The Christmas Covenant legislation restructures the polity of The United Methodist Church by creating regional conferences from the current central conferences and the church in the United States. These regional conferences will have equal legislative authority to adapt policies and practices to meet the missional priorities of their respective ministry contexts. Submitted by the Philippines Annual Conference - Cavite, this is the first major proposal conceived and promoted by leaders from central conferences. This legislation has also been affirmed and supported by the Connectional Table.

The Central Conference Outreach Team which is organizing support for this legislation is composed of a majority of central conference leaders and some key supporters from the United States. We have team members from every central conference in Africa and the Philippines, and one central conference in Europe. This team is working alongside the Global Relations Team of the Love Your Neighbor Coalition (LYNC) and any financial support raised is disbursed through LYNC.

To ensure success in passing the Christmas Covenant at the next regular General Conference, the team is focused in 2021 on strategic online and in-person promotional activities and educational engagements with conferences, delegations, and other church groups. We seek the support of those who believe in decolonizing the church's polity as a key step in fostering relationships between regions of the church rooted in equity and mutual respect and cooperation in doing mission together - to share the liberating Gospel of love and justice in our communities.

When you send in your donation through LYNC, please dedicate the donation in honor of "Central Conference Organizing" so it will be earmarked for our work. Thank you very much for your prayer and generosity.
